Jeff Bridges
One of Hollywood’s most successful actors and frequent Academy Award® nominee, Jeff Bridges garnered his first Oscar® for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Crazy Heart—as Bad Blake, a down-on-his-luck, alcoholic country music singer. Since earning his initial Oscar nomination in 1971 for The Last Picture Show, he has been honored with seven nominations, most recently for Hell or High Water (2016). In a career spanning nearly 50 years, he has appeared in more than 70 films, among them Seabiscuit, The Big Lebowski, True Grit, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Starman, and most recently, Bad Times at the El Royale.
Bridges starred in and served as an executive producer for FX’s The Old Man, which ran for two seasons. For his role of Dan Chase, he received an Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Through his company ASIS Productions, he has also produced films and television movies, including the documentary Living in the Future’s Past, as well as The Giver, American Heart, The Only Living Boy in New York, and Hidden in America. In 2019, he received the Cecile B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his remarkable career.
One of Jeff’s true passions is photography. While on the set of many of his movies, he takes behind-the-scenes pictures of the actors, crew, and locations. After completion of each motion picture, he edits the images into a book and gives copies to everyone involved. Jeff’s photographs have been featured in magazines such as Premiere and Aperture, as well as other publications worldwide. He has also had gallery exhibitions of his work in New York (at the George Eastman House), Los Angeles, London, and the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego. In 2013, Jeff was the recipient of an Infinity Award, presented by the International Center of Photography, NY.
The books, which have become valued by collectors, were never intended for public sale, but in the fall of 2003, to much critical acclaim, powerHouse Books released Pictures: Photographs of Jeff Bridges, a hardcover volume containing a compilation of his photographs taken on numerous film locations over the years. In 2019, Jeff released Volume Two. Proceeds from these books are donated to the Motion Picture & Television Fund, a charitable organization that assists people with limited resources in the Southern California movie and television industries.
Jeff released his self-titled major label debut album for Blue Note Records in 2011, with GRAMMY® Award-winner T Bone Burnett as producer. That critically acclaimed album was a follow-up to his first solo effort, Be Here Soon. In 2014 Jeff released the album Jeff Bridges and the Abiders Live.
Currently, Jeff is the national spokesperson for the Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign that is fighting to end childhood hunger in America. In February 2015, he released a spoken word/ambient album titled Sleeping Tapes. The collaboration was coproduced with musician Keefus Ciancia, and all proceeds from the sales go to the No Kids Hungry campaign.
Jeff and his wife, Susan, divide their time between their home in Santa Barbara, California, and their ranch in Montana.
