"Siren's Call" is reminiscent of the beautiful sirens in Homer's Ulysses. The siren is seen as a shadow in the sails and in the writings of Homer, the crew is ordered to block their ears so that they do not succumb to the bewitching song of the sirens. I was inspired to create this artwork from my own personal sailing adventures I have taken part in over the years.
This artwork is created by a twenty-two step process on steel. First grinding and etching with various layers on steel base.. The metal is then prepped for printing and painting with a unique combination of high quality resin and clear coats. The final step is top-coating the image with resin. Fabrication done by Eric States of Surf & Summit, Santa Barbara, CA.
